Pay for the parts that cost us money.

FreeYour plan

Unlimited, no card needed, no AI.

Everything the app does on its own machine is free on every plan, and always will be — writing recipes, the calendar, voting, your kitchen, the shopping list, searching your own box and the recipe index, and the free web search that reads recipe data straight off the page. Running those for one more family costs nothing, so charging for them would be charging for nothing.

What it does not include is the work somebody else bills us for each time it runs: reading a page with a model, drawing a picture, rewriting a method, and searching the web with AI. Those are what the paid plans buy. Uploading your own photographs is unlimited on every plan, including this one, and a recipe typed in by hand is always free.

Questions worth asking

What counts as an AI action?

An import that needed a model to read the page, a generated picture, fuller instructions, or an AI web search. Most recipe links publish their own data and import for nothing — those are never counted, and typing a recipe in by hand is always free.

Can I try the AI for free?

No, and it is fairer to say so plainly than to bury a small monthly ration somewhere. Every one of those actions is money paid to somebody else the moment it runs, and a free ration handed to every account is a bill that grows with the sign-ups and is answered by no revenue. The rest of the app is genuinely free and unlimited, which is enough to decide whether you like it — and the cheapest plan is $2 a month, cancellable whenever you like.

Why do pictures have their own limit?

They cost several times what an import does. Giving them a separate ceiling is what lets the action budgets be as large as they are rather than being priced for the most expensive thing in the pool.

Do I need a family to use this?

No. An account is yours alone until you invite somebody, and everything works that way — recipes, the calendar, the shopping list, all of it. If you do invite people, one subscription covers the whole household rather than one each, and you share a single monthly allowance.

What happens if I cancel?

You keep everything until the period you have already paid for runs out, then drop back to the free plan — so the AI features stop and the rest of the app carries on exactly as before. Nothing you have written is ever removed, including recipes an import brought in and pictures that were drawn for you.
